Lummi Nation makes a new offer for ferry dock on tribal land

The
Lummi Nation has reportedly made another offer to host the
Lummi Island ferry.
The tribe wants $200,000 per year over 35 years, with annual inflation adjustments, plus
$110,000 per year with inflation adjustments for upland acreage.
The tribe will forgo the $110,000 payment if
Whatcom CountyWhatcom County agrees to
$8 million for traffic safety improvements.
The tribe also wants the county to contribute $4 million towards the cost of a new marina.
The tribe says the marina has to be designed with the ferry in mind.
The tribe and the county are meeting on Thursday to discuss the ferry. The tribe has given the county until April 10 to agree to a deal.
